We take a short walk of the Fisherman’s Bastion (exterior) and the Matthias Church (interior) which is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. Founded in the 13th century, and officially known as the Buda Castle Church of Our Lady, it was used by the Turks as a mosque and was later almost completely rebuilt in the Baroque period.

Next, we go up to the Gellért Hill (Photo stop) where you have a great view of whole Budapest. From here we cross Elisabeth-Bridge and drive towards Heroes’ Square (Promenade) on the Andrassy Avenue. Passing by the Parliament, the Opera and St. Stephen’s Basilica which we will also visit from inside:  St. Stephen’s Basilica, in Hungarian Szent István-Bazilika, is a catholic basilica located in the center of Budapest. At first, the structure was supposed to be named after Saint Leopold, the patron of Austria, but the plan was changed and the church was named after Stephen, the first king of Hungary. Allegedly his right hand is preserved in the reliquary of the basilica. Today, St. Stephens’s Basilica represents the third largest church in Hungary. Many sculptors have contributed to the inner decoration of St. Stephen’s Basilica; more than 50 different types of marble were used to shape several sculptures.

Your guide will introduce the history of the building, along with the culture of food and drink and the everyday cooking and eating habits of Hungarians. The tour also includes a ride with the well-known Panorama tram Nr 2, The tram line was established after WWII and runs between Jászai Mari Square and Közvágóhíd passing numerous Budapest sights. Since a significant part of the route goes along the bank of the Danube, we can also enjoy the most beautiful panorama.
