About The Speakers:

Dona S.

Dona survived sexual abuse, Bill Cosby, suicide attempts and drug and alcohol addiction all before she was old enough to graduate high school, and then things really got interesting.
Becoming a model at the age of 15 she was immediately sexually abused by a Fire Captain and did what any child does. Kept silent. Turning to drugs and alcohol to ease her pain, her life spun out of control rapidly which led to the arms of Bill Cosby at the age of 16. He was 42.
Unlike many speakers and 'experts' who do not have first-hand experience ... Dona does. Having survived sexual abuse at the hands of adult predators , she knows intimately the experiences of those.
After numerous overdoses, lock down facilities, suicide attempt and eventually treatment, Dona not only survived she thrived. Dona has been sober since 1987 and has been an active member in recovery since the age of 23. She has mentored 1000's of women in the past 32 years.
In 2003 Dona was selected 'Woman of the Year' by the Yellowstone Foundation. A woman's nonprofit group. In 2005, she founded one of the first 501(c)(3) recovery/detox centers for women in California. From 2004 to 2006, Dona served on the Board of the W.I.N. Foundation (Women in Need)—a non-profit recovery, education, and empowerment center. Today she currently sits on the board of The Lynn House.
Dona's passion for shattering the silence behind sexual trauma led her to write her memoir "Naked Truth, The Fall and Rise of Dona Speir", which was released in the Summer of 2019. A memoir, where she shares all of her life experiences that led her down a destructive path. Today, Dona is CEO of Recovery Coaching Experts, and works as a Nationally Certified Recovery Coach and Nationally Certified Interventionist.

Fr. Tim Meier

Fr. Tim Meier, SJ, is currently the Full-Time Support Chaplain for the California Military Department at the California National Guard's Joint Force Headquarters in Sacramento. He has remained sober since September 1979 and has been active in giving retreats for people in 12-Step recovery programs for more than 25 years. His retreat ministry began in 1990 with an internship under the direction of Fr. Tom W in Oakland, California. Tim led, on average, ten recovery retreats per year around North America prior to joining the military in 2006 -- in his 50s, with no prior service. Since 2008 Fr. Tim has deployed overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Joint Guardian, and Operation Enduring Freedom (twice). During his combat deployment to Iraq in 2008 he had over 200 missions "outside the wire" -- without a weapon.
Tim earned post-secondary degrees in music and biology (Kalamazoo College); philosophy (Loyola, Chicago); immunology (Georgetown); theology and divinity (Weston Jesuit School of Theology), and molecular neurobiology (Stanford). His doctoral dissertation, in part, looked at aspects of traumatic brain injury. He has pursued further studies of traumatic stress injuries and diseases at Fort Sam Houston since joining the Army. In 1982, when he was almost 3 years sober, he spent the summer at the Vatican Astronomical Observatory in Castel Gandolfo, Italy where he identified over 700 late-type red giant stars near the center of our galaxy, and sang solo, a cappella, for His Holiness, Pope John Paul II during Mass in his private chapel. John Paul II was declared a saint in 2014.

Fr. Tim Meier recently retired as a Chaplain in the US Army and is a priest at a Parish in Los Angeles, Ca.
